Why Joblar Exists

Construction hiring is often fragmented: roles are urgent, availability changes quickly, and it's hard to know who is genuinely suitable. Companies pay heavily for recruitment, while professionals still struggle to find roles that match their trade, location, rate, and availability.

The system creates waste on both sides — companies spend time filtering unsuitable applicants, professionals chase roles that were never a good fit, and everyone loses time when the process drags.

Joblar was built to fix that. We focus on removing the "middleman" effect by enabling direct professional-employer matching — with an explicit ambition to reduce recruitment costs dramatically.

Like many early-stage products, Joblar started as a practical solution to a very specific pain point. The concept gained momentum through early startup support, including the NDRC Pre-Accelerator, and that helped validate the direction with real-world outcomes — including early matchmaking success.

Laura Colleran

CEO & Founder

Laura is the founder and CEO of Joblar. A Mayo native, she brings a strong operator mindset to a real-world problem in construction recruitment — focused on making hiring faster, clearer, and more affordable.

Laura is a health and safety professional with over a decade of experience in the Irish and UK construction sectors. She has worked as an HSE advisor on major infrastructure projects, bringing first-hand knowledge of what construction sites actually need — from compliance to workforce planning.

At Joblar, Laura leads product vision, partnerships, customer discovery, and go-to-market — working closely with employers and construction professionals to design a hiring experience that actually works for real sites.

Christopher Herrera Magaña

CTO & Co-Founder

Christopher is the CTO and Co-Founder of Joblar. He is a cloud and AI-focused technical leader with experience at two of the world's largest technology companies, where he worked on large-scale cloud systems and customer-critical problem solving.

His background in building and supporting enterprise-grade infrastructure gives Joblar a technical foundation that most early-stage startups simply don't have — from security and data architecture to scalable systems design.

At Joblar, Christopher owns the entire engineering roadmap — from core platform architecture and data design to security, verification workflows, and the matching engine — ensuring the product is reliable, secure, and built to scale.
